Minnesota State Arts Board UPDATE

Statement from Minnesota State Arts Board 6/29/2011

About a possible state government shutdown
As you are perhaps aware, the 2011 legislative session ended without an agreement on the state’s budget for fiscal year 2012 and 2013. If no agreement is reached by midnight on June 30, 2011, a state government shutdown will occur on July 1, 2011.

In the event of a state government shut down, the Minnesota State Arts Board will likely be closed and will remain closed until a shut down ends. During this time, Arts Board staff would not be available to respond to questions, inquiries, or assist with grant payments or applications.

We regret any inconvenience a potential shutdown might cause our constituents. We are doing all we can to provide up-to-date information so that applicants and grantees can plan accordingly, and manage the impact a disruption in state service might cause to their programs and activities.

Deadlines for FY 2012 have been posted
Grant application deadlines for fiscal year 2012 have been posted on the Minnesota State Arts Board Web site, under the deadlines/calendar tab (http://www.arts.state.mn.us/calendar/index.htm). If a state government shutdown occurs, those deadlines are likely to be extended.

Until the budget agreement is reached, the Arts Board does not have funds appropriated for grants in the coming biennium. The board cannot approve grants for FY 2012 applications that have already been submitted. Those applications will be held, and the board will act on them as soon as it has funding to do so.

Where do I get more information?
The most current information regarding the impacts of a potential state government shutdown on Arts Board constituents can be found on the Arts Board Web site at http://www.arts.state.mn.us/news/2011/06/potential-state-shutdown.htm

Additional information about the State of Minnesota’s contingency planning also is available at www.bereadymn.com
